Devlog #3: First Playable Level and Movement Improvements
The development of DadCodeStudio keeps progressing! Over the past weeks, we’ve worked on gameplay, visual effects, and the first playable level, alongside improving the player’s movement system.
🔹 Gameplay and Combat Improvements
- ✔ HUD visuals have been enhanced to be clearer and more appealing.
- ✔ The player can now hold down the attack button for continuous strikes.
- ✔ The wand weapon has been adjusted: lower damage and slower fire rate.
🔹 Optimization and Cleanup
- ✔ Unnecessary assets were removed to improve project organization.
- ✔ Nodes in Main_Scene have been restructured, separating them into dedicated scenes.
🔹 Graphics and Visual Effects Enhancements
- ✔ A temporary HDR Sky has been added for a better background.
- ✔ Placeholder textures were applied to walls for more detail.
- ✔ Overall lighting has been improved.
🔹 First Playable Level
- ✔ Level 1 construction started, with materials and textures.
- ✔ First introductory cinematic for the level was created.
- ✔ Sand particle effects added to simulate a storm.
- ✔ Volumetric Fog was disabled to improve performance.
🔹 New Player Movement System
- ✔ Implemented a Finite State Machine (FSM) for movement.
- ✔ New actions: Run, Crouch, Double Jump, and Parry Block (in development).
- ✔ Added player head bobbing to enhance immersion.
🔹 New Spaceship
- ✔ A new spaceship model was added to the game.
