Devlog #1: DadCodeStudio: Creating indie video games while learning Godot

 ðŸ‘‹ Welcome to DadCodeStudio!

I am a developer and father, balancing coding with family responsibilities, and this blog will be my space to share the progress of my first indie video game. I’m creating this game from scratch with Godot 4.4.3, learning as I go while juggling development with my daily work. 🚀

🎮 Current Development Status

The game is still in the prototype phase, and I have currently implemented:

✔ Initial menus and navigation system.
✔ Basic player functionality.
✔ An enemy with all animations ready.

The environments are still under construction and lack textures, but each day I make progress with new features.

🛠️ The Challenge of Learning Godot

Until now, I had never worked with Godot, so this process has been a continuous learning journey. I face the challenge of mastering new tools while optimizing my time between work, family, and development.

🔜 What's Coming Next

There's still a long way to go before a playable demo, but the next steps include:

  • Designing playable levels.

  • Creating weapons and combat mechanics.

  • More enemies with complete animations.

If you want to join me on this journey, I’ll be posting devlogs with each significant progress update. Follow me on Ko-fi to support the development! ☕🎮
